hunger games series - "I just don't want to be another piece in their game, you know?"
this is an iconic YA dystopian series about a post-war country and their turning the punishment of children into entertainment. the plot is super interesting and the characters are easy to connect with. everything just connects perfectly, especially the two new prequels. theres a reason theyre so popular! lovelovelove this series!

lord of the flies - "Maybe there is a beast... maybe it's only us.
i know most people had to read this in highschool, but i'd say it's for good reason. every time i read it, i find new ideas i never thought about before. it's about a group of 15-20 british boys that crash land on an island during a war in the 1950s. there's no adults, nor anyone over 13 for that matter. it explores how being raised during a world war affects a person's humanity, and how children can become desensitized to violence. (graphic violence warning)

warrior cats; the prophecy begins - “One choice could change the course of a thousand moons, if only one has the courage to act.”
if you enjoy fantasy-action books, youll probably like this series. the prophecy begins is probably my favorite of all the arcs. it introduces everything so well and the worldbuilding is great. and just because its cats doesnt mean its only for children! give it a try! (it has lots of detailed gore and death, so beware if youre sensitive to that)

warrior cats; bluestars prophecy - "You can hide from your clanmates. It'll be StarClan that judges you."
if you liked the first arc, try this book next. i havent cried at a book in..... ever. this book really made me love bluestar even more, which i didnt think was possible. it gives tons of insight on her character, and introduces us to new ones. its my all-time favorite special edition. (again, gore and death warning)
